Port Vale sign Nottingham Forest striker as Alex Jones replacement

Port Vale have signed Tyler Walker on loan from Nottingham Forest for the rest of the season as confirmed by the club website.

The 20-year-old striker, who is the son of famed defender Des Walker, is seen as one of the hottest talents to come from the Forest academy in recent years and is expected to break through into the first team at some point in the future. However in order to do that he needs to get first team football and this loan spell at Port Vale, which will last until May, will do exactly that.

The Valiants suffered a blow when on-loan striker Alex Jones elected not to extend his deal from Birmingham for the rest of the season, deciding instead to join their Sky Bet League One rivals Bradford City on a permanent deal. This meant that Port Vale were on the lookout to sign a new striker and now that Walker has penned a temporary deal until the end of the season, they have got their man.

While Walker has made 22 appearances for Nottingham Forest, scoring two goals for them, he has also been on loan at a number of other teams. Last season he was at Burton Albion where he made six appearances before his deal was cut short through injury. This season was much the same when he moved to Stevenage when an injury in October meant that he missed a large chunk of that move, though he made his return on New Years Eve and will be fit and raring to go for Port Vale.
