Forest approach Spaniard to discuss vacancy

Struggling Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest are understood to have made initial contact with Spaniard Oscar Garcia to discuss the managerial vacancy at The City Ground according to the Nottingham Post.

The Reds sacked former manager Philippe Montanier on Saturday evening after a dour 0-0 draw with Birmingham City at St Andrews after less than seven months in the Forest hot seat.

The Midlands club must once again begin the search for a new manager, a task which Forest did not find easy in the summer after missing out on a number of potential candidates.

One of those believed to be in the frame for the role in the summer was former Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford boss Garcia and it is thought that the Spaniard ranks highly on Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi’s wanted list once again. Garcia, who currently manages Austria Bundesliga outfit RB Salzburg is understood to have been contacted by Forest about the vacancy however it is unknown whether the job would appeal to him. Garcia won a league and cup double with The Red Bulls last season and is seemingly enjoying life at the Red Bull Arena.

Other names in the frame are former boss Billy Davies, Jack Lester who is a youth coach at The City Ground and former Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett.
