Leeds United: on loan striker on Scottish move

Around this time last year, Leeds United announced that they had brought in the Glasgow-born McKay twins from South Yorkshire side Doncaster Rovers.

The twin brothers joined the Whites on two-and-a-half-year deals for undisclosed fees.

Jack collected Doncaster Rovers’ Academy Player of the Year award for 2013 after his performances for the South Yorkshire side’s youth set-up, making four senior team appearances for Doncaster Rovers in League One that season.
Paul is a central defender who has made one senior appearance, making his professional debut in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash against Burton Albion.
At the turn of this year, both Airdrieonians, who play in Scottish League One, and Leeds United announced that striker Jack had signed on a half-season loan deal with immediate effect.
McKay went straight into the Airdrie side against derby rivals Albion Rovers, playing 81 minutes in the 2-1 loss. McKay said to the Airdire website that he was happy to play a part, but also expressed his disappointment at the result. On that he said: “It was a hard game. I thought we dominated the first half but it was Albion Rovers who went ahead and they were then hard to break down. Obviously I’m here to help Airdrie achieve their aim, which is promotion to the Championship.”
In the following game against Queen’s Park, McKay came off the bench in another 2-1 losing effort, replacing Jack Leitch. Another substitute performance saw the on-loan Leeds United youngster climb from the bench in the 78th minute for another cameo against East Fife. However, it was this subsitution that was instrumental in Airdrie arresting a 2017 mini-slide, with his 89th minute assist for Jack Leitch’s goal meaning that Airdrie got a share of the points, maintaining their joint second-place position in the table.
