Unhappy Bristol City fans react on Twitter to late defeat in Severnside Derby

Cardiff City completed the double over rivals Bristol City with a 3-2 victory at Ashton Gate on Saturday lunchtime. The game was action-packed, with four of the five goals coming inside a frenetic final fifteen minutes. The Bluebirds scored twice in the last ten minutes to seal the victory.

Defeat heaped more pressure on head coach Lee Johnson, as the Robins have now lost seven straight Sky Bet Championship matches. They last tasted victory of any kind on December 3rd at home to Ipswich Town and glancing over the reaction on social media, supporters are shocked and unhappy.

It was only recently that Johnson conceded that he understood he was under pressure in what is most certainly a results-based business. A trio of new signings were handed their league debut earlier today, but they couldn’t drive the team over the line. After a tight first half, a Brian Murphy own goal sent most of the 19,452 crowd into raptures. Just hour half an hour later, Anthony Pilkington netted from the spot to make it 1-1, kick-starting the goal frenzy.

Tammy Abraham soon fired the hosts back in front, before Neil Warnock’s men completed a memorable comeback. 23-year-old Kadeem Harris, a substitute off the bench fifteen minutes earlier, made it 2-2 before a superb Pilkington strike sealed the win for the Bluebirds.

Many Bristol City fans will be left wondering just how they failed to win this match, or at the very least draw, especially as they lead into the final ten minutes. It now leaves Johnson scratching his head, but the supporters are doing more than that on social media in the wake of the final whistle. Below is a selection of tweets to reflect the mood around the club right now.
