Sky Bet League One side Northampton Town have announced Justin Edinburgh as the Cobblers’ new boss.
Northampton sit 16th in League One and have appointed the former Rushden & Diamonds boss as their new Chief.
The former Southend United and Portsmouth player made more than 200 appearances during his time playing for Tottenham Hotspurs.
Edinburgh’s management experiences include roles in charge at Billericay Town, Fisher Athletic and Rushden & Diamonds.
Edinburgh took the Diamonds on a successful charge to the Conference play-offs during his two-and-a-half years there as boss before being appointed at Newport County in October 2011.
At the time of appointment, County were 23rd in the Conference but Edinburgh proved miracles can happen by turning their fortunes around by leading them away from relegation and to the FA Trophy. He eventally led the Exiles back to the Football League via the Conference play-offs a season later.
Edinburgh’s 41% win ratio from nearly 400 matches made him a stand-out contender for the role and will watch Saturday’s game against Scunthorpe United from the stands before officialy taking over on Monday.
