Leeds United joint favourites to secure signing of prolific League One forward

Championship outfits Leeds United and Wolves are joint favourites to sign Bristol Rovers forward Matty Taylor, according to BetVictor.

Both clubs are joint 4/1 favourites to sign the forward in the ‘Matty Taylor To Sign For Before 3rd February 2017’ market, with Sheffield Wednesday at 8/1 and Reading, Bristol City and Preston all priced at 12/1.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a great first-half of the Sky Bet League One season, scoring 15 goals in 24 league appearances. Taylor also has two goals in two FA Cup appearances alongside another goal to add to the tally in the EFL Trophy.

Taylor has continued his fine form from League Two in the last campaign, where he netted 27 times and assisting a further five in 46 league games.

Leeds United have recently been linked with a move for Norwich City winger Sergi Canos, but could be priced out of a deal with the Canaries wanting £3 million.

Leeds United have already made one signing this window, securing the services of popular attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez on a permanent deal.

The 31-year-old has spent the first half of the season on-loan from Qatari outfit Al-Arabi, but has returned to his parent club following last week’s 3-0 win over Rotherham United. Now, it is expected that Leeds will announce the Hernandez deal early this week.

Hernandez made 15 appearances in the Championship for the Whites, scoring three goals and assisting a further three.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been linked with a January transfer move for former Wigan Athletic striker Hugo Rodallega, but face competition from Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers.
