QPR, Norwich and Bristol City interested in Slovenia international

A trio of Championship clubs are interested in signing free agent Bojan Jokic, according to Team Talk.

The 30-year-old left-back recently saw his contract at Villarreal cancelled by mutual consent and is in search of a a new club. Jokic joined the Spanish side from Serie A club Chievo and made 29 appearances for the La Liga outfit.

Jokic himself confirmed he is likely to move to England in an interview in his home country of Slovenia with RTV Slo:

“Most of the options is to go back to England.

“More will be known in the coming days, open some stuff from different countries. From Turkey, which has more than a pen, I did not get any offers. It is true that they called me, but there was nothing concrete, neither you there I did not want.

“You never know where to take your life, but is likely to remain in western Europe. Above all, I want a club where I will play.”

Norwich City, Queen’s Park Rangers and Bristol City are all interested in signing the defender.

Jokic would bring a huge wealth of experience to the Championship and enjoyed his first taste English football last season as he spent the second-half of the campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest. The veteran has accumulated 82 caps for his country and visited the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where he played in all three of Slovenia’s fixtures.

Many Robins, QPR and Norwich fans will have unknowingly watched their club’s new transfer target last year, as England drew 0-0 in October and Jokic played the full 90 minutes.

Jokic has performed at the top level in numerous locations in Europe and would be a reliable asset to gain.
