Nottingham Forest are lining-up a move for Bordeaux midfielder Abdou Traore, according to the Nottingham Post.
The 28-year-old Mali international joined Bordeaux’s youth system in 2006 after moving from Africa. Traore impressed whilst playing for Bordeaux B and was promoted to the first-team, making his Champions League debut in a 2-0 victory over Italian giants Juventus.
In the same year, 2009, the midfielder quickly became a Mali international and has accumulated 32 caps for his country. Trader has also visited three African Cup of Nations, where his team finished third in 2012 after losing to Ivory Coast in the semi final.
Forest are expecting to have their transfer embargo lifted after the takeover led by John Jay Moores is completed and Philippe Montanier is keen to secure the services of the Bordeaux player.
Traore has made just eight appearances for the Ligue 1 club this season, with his last fixture being a 3-2 win over Nice in mid-December. The limited game-time has sparked speculation he may leave the club. Traore has over 80 appearances for the former French champions under his belt and also enjoyed a loan spell at Nice in 2010, where he made 22 appearances.
The midfielder would bring a wealth of experience to Nottingham Forest, having played at the top level all his career. He would also provide Montanier with extra midfield options, should Henri Lansbury leave.
Forest are currently 20th in the Championship and are away to Birmingham City on Saturday. The Blues are 13th in the league and drew to Newcastle United at the weekend.
