Blackburn Rovers demand £2.5m for in demand winger

Blackburn Rovers are demanding £2.5m from any team that want to sign Ben Marshall according to a report from the Daily Mirror.

The 25-year-old winger’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, which has attracted many teams as they feel they could get a starring player for a bargain fee. One of these teams is Wolves, who have a big fan of Marshall as their head coach. Paul Lambert worked with him when he was the manager of Blackburn at the end of last season and after enjoying that time together, he is aiming to reunite them at Molineux.

While Wolves do have some money to play around with after having a big money takeover in the summer, they were aiming to sign Marshall as cheaply as possible and made a £1m bid for the former Leicester City man. But that offer was turned down and left Wolves in an odd place as they believed that that fee would be enough to prise him away from Ewood Park.

But now Blackburn have told Wolves and any other team that might be interested in signing Marshall that they will have to stump up at least £2.5m. So even though they could end up losing the winger on a free transfer at the end of the season if they don’t cash in during the January transfer window, they are determined to get the value they believe that he is worth. It is a risk by Blackburn, but is one that they are willing to take.
