Transfer News: Fletcher not looking Leeds bound

Ian Abrahams has sensationally quashed speculation linking West Ham youngster Ashley Fletcher with a move to Leeds United.

The journalist, on Twitter, was replying to a question from a fan, when he revealed the disappointing news for Leeds fans.

Despite Leeds’ interest in the forward, rumours have circulated in recent times that he may be used as bait – for a potential negotiation between The Hammers and Hull City. It is said that The Hammers are checking the availability of taking Robert Snodgrass from The Tigers and Fletcher could be used as a bargaining tool to strengthen the deal.

Despite this new talk, he has been a target for Leeds since the beginning of the transfer window.

The Whites have been on the lookout for reinforcements as they look to win promotion this season.

Having already looked set to lose out on Middlesbrough forward David Nugent to Derby – another target in Jordan Rhodes has also potentially slipped away from them. If reports are to be believed – Leeds are not prepared to match Middlesbrough’s valuation of the player.

The Whites, who currently lie fifth in The Championship, have so far had to rely on Chris Wood for goals from the forward positions. The New Zealand international has so far netted 16 in all competitions this term. However, apart from Wood’s own efforts no-one else has really contributed. Kyle Bartley is the next closest challenger to Wood – with four.

Their next fixture could also see them face their soon to be former target, Nugent.

If the player completes his move to Derby in the coming days then he may be eligible to face Leeds in their fixture this Friday night.
