Out of favour Everton striker linked with QPR loan move

Get West London reports that Queens Park Rangers are targeting a January swoop for Everton striker Arouna Kone. Ian Holloway is desperately scouring the transfer market, particularly for forwards, and believes the 33-year-old could do a job for them in the Sky Bet Championship.

Idrissa Sylla and Conor Washington are the only senior strikers available to Holloway at the moment. Sebastian Polter is highly likely to leave the club in the coming days. The only other options are attacking midfielders that are forced into striker roles or trying some untested youth players in the first team. Holloway wants experience.

Kone has only made six appearances under Ronald Koeman this season so far, suggesting that he would indeed be open to a move away this month in search of more regular football. Whilst he did appear a few days ago in the 2-1 home defeat to Everton in the Emirates FA Cup, prior to that he hasn’t played since September 2016.

David Nugent, who is expected to leave Middlesbrough and sign for Derby County, as well as former Wigan Athletic forward Hugo Rodallega, are other transfer targets that Holloway did look towards. Kone is certainly a more realistic move given the fact he is struggling for game time and a loan move would suit all parties involved in this particular circumstance. Much depends on if there is any other interest in the player, who would pay his wages and if he wants to stay at Everton to fight for his place.
