Charlton Athletic have offer for Huddersfield Town starlet rejected

Charlton Athletic have had a loan offer for Huddersfield Town’s Kyle Dempsey rejected according to a report from HITC Sport.

The 21-year-old midfielder completed a loan move to Fleetwood Town at the start of the season and is meant to be there until the end of the season, though there is always the possibility that Huddersfield could terminate the deal and send him to another club if they believe his development would be better served elsewhere.

That was what Charlton was hoping for when they made an offer to sign Dempsey. They had been very impressed with Dempsey during his time at Fleetwood this season, where he has made 22 appearances, and were hoping to add him to their squad so they can make a push for promotion after a disappointing start to the season.

Presumably, Charlton were using their leverage as one of the biggest clubs in Sky Bet League One to show why Dempsey would be better playing at The Valley for the rest the season. He would have also been playing under Karl Robinson who is known around the Sky Bet EFL for getting his teams to play very good football, something that Huddersfield also do under their head coach David Wagner.

However despite that, Huddersfield have decided to turn the offer for Dempsey down and he will be staying at Fleetwood for the rest of the season it seems. The Terriers are happy with his development at Highbury and will be hoping that it will continue throughout 2017.
