Brentford striker set to complete £12.5m move to West Ham United

Brentford’s Scott Hogan is set to complete a £12.5m move to West Ham United according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon via Football Insider.

After having an injury plagued first two years at Griffin Park, the 24-year-old striker has been making up for lost time this year and has scored 14 goals in 16 appearances. But as you’d expect his has attracted a lot of interest from other teams with west Ham being the main suitors over the last few weeks.

When the transfer window first opened, the Hammers were there to make a £10m bid for Hogan to try and lure him to the London Stadium. However that was turned down but determined to get their striker, West Ham came back with an improved offer of £12.5m which seems to have worked. According to this report, the deal to sign the former Rochdale forward is close to completion and all it needs is for Brentford to clear some of the details and it can be confirmed.

This will be great news for West Ham fans who have been crying out for new strikers all season. None of their current forwards have been able to score more than two goals this season, which is shocking even for a team that is at the wrong end of the table this year. Andy Carroll has been injured for large parts of the season, Diafra Sakho can’t hold onto a spot in the first team and Simone Zaza has been sent back to Juventus after being one of the biggest flop moves in recent years. Now Hogan is set to move there and hopefully sort their issues out.
