5 clubs, two French & three English, declare interest in Derby winger

French media outlet Foot Mercato understands that five clubs, some from the Championship, are interested in signing Derby County winger Abdoul Camara this month. In addition to Ligue 1 duo Toulouse and Montpellier, Wolves, QPR and Cardiff City are all believing to be pondering a move for Guinea forward.

The 26-year-old has struggled to make a serious impact since making the move to Pride Park last year. Although injuries and a change of manager has not helped his cause, Steve McClaren could be prepared to let the player go, at least on loan, or possibly permanently if they can sign a replacement.

The player is proven in Ligue 1 from his time at Angers, which is essentially what persuaded then Derby-boss, and now current Swansea City manager, Paul Clement, to part way with over a million pounds to bring the player into the English second tier. The form of both Tom Ince and Johnny Russell has restricted him to the bench on his comeback from injury.

Just under £2million could be enough to lure the player away from the Rams, with Paul Lambert, Ian Holloway and Neil Warnock paying particular interest to the situation at hand. A loan deal could be a more realistic solution that suits all parties. Perhaps McClaren may just want him to go out temporarily to get some games under his belt before reviewing again in the summer. What division Derby are playing in next season could also have a say in proceedings.
