Wolves bid for 16-year-old League One star

Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a bid for Rochdale midfielder Aaron Morley, according to HITC Sport.

The 16-year-old is a first year scholar, meaning he would be expected to be playing for the under-18 squad. However, Rochdale boss Keith Hill gave the youngster his professional debut this season in a 2-1 win over Notts County in the EFL Trophy. Hill spoke of the debut a post-match interview, “Age isn’t a concern for me. It’s the ability and the process of putting that ability into performances, and I think Aaron can do that.

“Aaron has not only completed 90 minutes tonight, I thought he was excellent.

“His passing is as good as you’re going to get at any level, not just this level. It’s like slo-mo time when he gets the ball, but trust me, the processes he goes through are very, very quick and are in timing with the Premier League, so if he adds to that then there could be a talent there for the football club.”

Morley has now made six appearances for the Greater Manchester club including two starts against Southend United and Bradford City in League One.

The exciting talent has not emerged unnoticed though, with a number of Championship and Premier League clubs tracking the youngster. Wolves look to be leading the pack with a six-figure bid.

The teenager is one of many on what may be a busy transfer window for the West Midlands club. Paul Lambert’s team are tracking striker Jordan Hugill and showing interest in Matty James. They are also linked with Ipswich Town’s Luke Chambers as they look to climb the table from 16th spot.
