Bundesliga club express their interest in goal machine Scott Hogan

Sky Sports reports that Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig have entered the race for in-demand Brentford striker Scott Hogan. The Championship club rate the 24-year-old at £15million pounds and the German club could be set to make their move for the former Rochdale frontman.

Clubs such as West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Reading and Norwich City have been mentioned as being interested in the Bees forward, but the presence of Leipzig is of particularly interest. This is clearly a division they know a lot about, as it was earlier this season where they parted way with a significant chunk of money to sign Oliver Burke from Nottingham Forest.

Hogan continued his fine season by finding the back of the net once again in Monday’s 3-1 away victory over Gianfranco Zola’s Birmingham City at St Andrews. So far, only Brighton & Hove Albion’s Glenn Murray and Dwight Gayle of Newcastle United have scored more goals than Hogan, who has also played for clubs such as Stocksbridge Park Steels and Ashton United.

It is believed that the club are not prepared to listen to any offers from other clubs in the Championship, so the Premier League or possibly the Bundesliga seems to be his most likely destination, if he is indeed to leave Griffin Park this month. Head coach Dean Smith is aware of such speculation but told Get West London before Christmas that the club are searching for Hogan’s replacement, just in case he does depart this month.
