Leeds United striker makes move away from club

Leeds United striker Jack McKay has joined Scottish side Airdrieonians FC on-loan for the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old made the move to the West Yorkshire club from League Two side Doncaster Rovers in January, and is yet to feature in the senior side.

McKay will join up with Scottish League One side Airdrieonians FC and is available for selection for their next match against Albion Rovers.

In a statement on their website, Airdrieonians FC said ‘We are pleased to confirm the loan signing of Leeds United striker Jack McKay.

20-year-old Glaswegian McKay has spent his entire career to date in England, signing for Doncaster Rovers at the age of nine. Gaining interest from Premier League sides as he progressed through the youth ranks, he chose to sign for Leeds United in January 2016.

Jack joins us on loan until the end of the season, and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s match against Albion Rovers.’

In terms on incomings at the West Yorkshire club, Leeds received a potential boost today when defender Rob Holding was left out of the Arsenal squad for their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Leeds, Villa and Wednesday have been previously linked with the defender, it is understood that Leeds are in the market for defensive players during the January transfer window.

Garry Monk’s side currently have Kyle Bartley, Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper as available centre-back options, and will be looking to add to the defensive side of the team in the January transfer window.

Airdrieonians FC currently sit in 2nd place in Scottish League One, seven points off top side Livingston FC with a game in hand.
