Quartet of Championship sides tracking rated Watford youngster

A number of Championship clubs are tracking Watford striker Jerome Sinclair, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.

Watford are keen to send the 20-year-old striker out on loan or some much needed experience, and numerous clubs are ready to fight for the signing.

Sinclair is a product of the Liverpool academy where he was a vital part of the Reds’ U18 and U21 teams. He made his professional debut in 2012 in the League Cup at just 16 years old and 6 days, becoming Liverpool’s youngest ever player.

In January this year, Watford had a £1.5 million offer rejected for the former England youth international but Sinclair’s contract was due to finish in the summer. The striker saw his contract run out to ensure he got a move away from Anfield for first-team football. In July 2016, he joined Watford on a free transfer but the Hornets had to pay a £4 million fee due to Sinclair’s age.

The youngster waited until December to make his Watford debut, eventually playing in a Premier League fixture at West Bromwich Albion. Sinclair has made three appearances for the Hertfordshire club this month, including a start against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Norwich City, Reading, Brentford and Cardiff City have all made enquires over a January switch.

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri is keen to send Sinclair elsewhere to further his education. However, the move is reportedly stalled until Isaac Success and Stefano Okaka are back fit. The Hornets are currently flying high in 10th place in the Premier League.
