Aston Villa: Veretout on the way out – Serie A beckons

Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout, currently on loan back in France at St Ettiene, could be about to pack his kit up and head to Italy according to Italian website Calcio Mercato.com.

Veretout signed for Villa from French side FC Nantes on July 31, 2015 for a fee reported to be in the region of £6.8m. He made 25 Premier League appearances for the VIllans as they suffered a quite horrendous campaign, being relegated from English football’s top tier. Whilst not scoring for the Midlands side, he managed to set up five Villa goals, providing assists for his teammates.

Not willing to ply his trade in England’s second tier competition, the former Nantes man negotiated a return to France and Ligue 1 with St Ettiene, for who he has made 16 appearances, scoring once against SC Caen and adding two assists.

Now calciomercato are saying that a further loan move will happen in January for Veretout as he swaps France and St Ettiene for Italy and Juventus, la Vecchia Signora of Italian football. The Italian website’s English version say that Veretout, who they say is “a very good passer”, is a player that will appeal to the Juventus hierarchy as he is a type of tough-tackling midfielder that Juventus are looking for.

Calciomercato go on to say that “Juvents coach Max Allegri is known to like players of this type,” before continuing to say that, “transfer magicians Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici are considering the deal.”
