Norwich City defender being eyed by Hamburg

Norwich City’s Timm Klose is being targeted by Hamburg SV according to a report from German publication the Hamburg Abendblatt.

The young defender has only been at Carrow Road for a short time having signed for them from Wolfsburg back in January, but while he showed plenty of initial promise an injury curtailed his debut season. He was then forced to watch from the sidelines as Norwich were relegation from the Premier League.

Despite there being reported interest from elsewhere, Klose decided to stick with Norwich following their relegation and has played well, though the club has not. Recently their form has nosedived and after a bright start to the season, they now sit 8th in the Sky Bet Championship with many fans calling for Alex Neil to go so they can have a chance of getting back in the promotion race this season. Klose has also recently been dropped from the first team with Sebastien Bassong taking his place.

And with it becoming more and more unlikely that Norwich will make a swift return to the Premier League, Klose may be tempted with a move back to his home country and this is where Hamburg are stepping in. They have one of the worst defences in the Bundesliga this season and see Klose not only as a player who can be a short term fix, but as someone who could become a long term leader for their back four.

But before Klose can think about leaving, he’ll be in the squad for Norwich’s match against Reading on Boxing Day.
