Inter Milan plot loan move for Championship goalkeeper

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the agent of Aston Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini has today travelled to the UK to discuss a potential move to Italian giants Inter Milan. Stefano Pioli wishes to lure the Italian keeper to the three-time European Cup winners to act as understudy to Samir Handanović.

Mark Bunn was given the nod in goal by Steve Bruce for the weekend victory over Queens Park Rangers and looks set to earn a run in the side. This is possibly an area that Bruce will look to strengthen in January, whilst at the same time allowing Gollini to move on, who has made some notable errors over the course of the last month. Should Inter come calling then it may suit all parties to allow him to move on.

The 21-year-old was signed by previous manager Roberto Di Matteo, who signed the keeper from relegated Hellas Verona in July. During his youth days, he was on the books of Manchester United. He is now a current Italian Under-21 international.

Given the financial fair play restrictions imposed upon Inter, a loan deal is the best solution for them at this moment in time. They are looking to build for the future with their first-choice keeper now aged 32. The situation is now placed in the hands of the players’ agent, who will look to force through a deal in time for January. Since moving to Villa Park, Gollini has made 20 appearances for the club, only being on the winning team on six occasions.
