Everton ‘confident’ of £11million deal for League One starlet

The Independent reports that Premier League side Everton are ‘confident’ of landing Charlton Athletic star Ademola Lookman in the January transfer window. It is understood that the fee for the 19-year-old could rise to up to £11million. The only possible stumbling block to the deal is that the Addicks want the Toffees to loan the forward back to the League One side for the rest of the season.

Charlton, now managed by Karl Robinson, is no stranger to seeing highly-rated young talent leave for the Premier League after Dele Alli departed MK Dons to link up with Tottenham Hotspur, before going on to become an England international. Ronald Koeman is keen on adding the talented starlet to his Goodison Park roster, especially with Yannick Bolasie ruled out for the rest of the season.

Everton ideally want to throw Lookman straight into their first team setup. They would pay £8million upfront, with a further £3million coming from various add-ons. Clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Celtic have look been monitoring the situation of the player, who made his Charlton debut in November 2015 away to MK Dons. Palace saw a £6million bid rejected in the last transfer window.

Everton director of football Steve Walsh has been scouting Lookman for some time and has recommended to Koeman that a bid is sanctioned. It looks set to be a case of watch this space regarding Ademola Lookman, who many won’t be surprised to see him making a big money move to the Premier League.
