Reports in Poland have declared Aston Villa’s interest in signing Bartosz Bereszynski from Legia Warsaw in the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old operates at right-back, a position that Steve Bruce is far from being short of players in. Alan Hutton, Ritchie De Laet and Micah Richards all operate at right-back but perhaps Bruce wants to put his own stamp on his Villa team.
Unknown to most English fans, Bereszynski started his career at Lech Poznan and played in the Europa League before moving to current club Legia Warsaw. In Warsaw, he was involved in the controversial Champions League qualifier against Celtic which Legia Warsaw won 6-1 on aggregate, only for Celtic to be reinstated in the Champions League after the game.
The defender has three caps for Poland and has previously been heavily linked with a move to Reading.
Steve Bruce has not been afraid to express his desire to make moves in the January transfer window and has revealed he has already sealed a few unannounced deals, “I already have one I hope in the bag, verbally. That will be good for us,
“By this afternoon I possibly could have two, which would be a really good addition to us.
“I will only bring in people now who will improve the squad dramatically. In the past, if I am going to be critical, I don’t think that has been the case here.
“We have just brought in numbers and I think that is a mistake. If you only bring in numbers to fill up the squad then you don’t become better.”
Perhaps the Polish right-back may be an under-the-radar signing for the Championship outfit.
