Jordan Rhodes wants to move to Sheffield Wednesday

Middlesbrough’s Jordan Rhodes wants to move to Sheffield Wednesday on loan according to a report from The Sun.

The 26-year-old striker moved the Teesside club in the last January transfer window but despite the massive amount of money and hype involved in the deal, it is yet to work out. Rhodes failed to hit top form when they were in the Sky Bet Championship and has struggled to break into their first team now that they are in the Premier League. This means it is very likely that Middlesbrough are going to let him leave in the upcoming January transfer window, though current reports suggest it will most likely be a loan as teams seem unwilling to meet Middlesbrough’s demands of recouping the fee they paid to sign the striker from Blackburn Rovers a year ago.

And the team Rhodes is hoping he will sign for in January is Sheffield Wednesday. He was linked with them in the summer transfer window and according this report, he believes that he would enjoy playing in their attacking style and would have the best chance of getting promoted to the Premier League if he was to move to South Yorkshire. There is also a familial link that would help persuade Rhodes to move to Hillsborough as his dad Andy is the goalkeeping coach at Wednesday.

However this hope could be made tricky by Aston Villa. While they are also looking to sign Rhodes on loan, they are also willing to pay out big to sign Rhodes and that could end up being his only option to leave Riverside.
