Toffees target Bolton forward

The Sun has reported that Everton are leading the list of teams interested in young forward, Zach Clough.

The feeling is that Ronald Koeman’s ambition to install more youth into his side has seen him take notice of Clough who has been a shining light for Bolton this season.

The newspaper has also suggested that Middlesbrough could be another interested party.

The club, who look to be parting company with former Blackburn striker, Jordan Rhodes, in the near future – showed an interest in Clough in the summer. Any move, however, failed to materialise.

The 21-year-old has always been touted as ‘one for the future’ ever since he first got into the first team at the Macron stadium. He initially joined the club as an 8-year-old.

Two years ago, his first season in professional football, he scored six times in just ten appearances before an injury had slowed down his progress in the last couple of years.

Injury halted his progress big time last season and he was only able to feature in around half the games for the former European competitors, during a season that saw them lose their Championship status and be relegated to the third tier of English football. Clough, however, did manage to net seven times during that time.

With the ever problematic financial problems lurking around the Macron like a bad smell, the thought is that any fee received for Clough will provide a much-needed figure required to help secure the long-term future of the club.
