Leeds United striker named in EFL Team of the Week

Leeds United winger Souleymane Doukara has been named in the EFL Team of the Week after a fine performance at the weekend against Aston Villa.

Doukara’s pinpoint cross gave Kemar Roofe his first goal for The Whites before Chris Wood sealed victory for Leeds United in a 2-0 victory at Elland Road.

The French-born winger scored the deciding goal in the previous game as Leeds triumphed against Rotherham United and has displayed great form as of late, with Garry Monk rewarding him with starts in the last five games.

Doukara will no doubt start for Leeds in their huge upcoming clash against promotion-rivals Brighton & Hove Albion in a fourth versus second matchup.

Elsewhere in the Team of the Week, which is in partnership with FIFA 17 Ultimate Team, features young Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow after a remarkable performance against Nottingham Forest on Friday night. The Newcastle stopper saved two penalties at the City Ground but his valiant display wasn’t enough to prevent Forest winning 2-1. The defeat for Newcastle means they stay as league-leaders as Brighton drew, but are now just one point ahead.

Doncaster Rovers’ Andy Butler scored a bullet header against Stevenage in a 4-3 win and the Irish international Alex Pearce was rock-solid for Derby County, and both players are in the Team of the Week. Ryan Fredericks of Fulham fills the final defensive spot.

Barnsley playmaker Conor Hourihane made three assists as The Tykes won 3-0 at Birmingham City. Man of the Match Alex Pritchard scored in a 5-0 demolishment of Brentford and was assisted by Norwich City teammate Jacob Murphy, who bagged a goal for himself too. Hourihane, Pritchard and Murphy claim the remaining three midfield spots.

Barnsley’s Sam Winnall scored a brace at the weekend and as did youngster Otis Khan in Yeovil Town’s 5-0 thumping of Crawley Town. Fulham forward Chris Martin completes the trio of double-scorers who make the Team of the Week. Yeovil boss Darren Way is named the manager.
