Birmingham City have offered Jordan Spence the chance to train with them according to a report from the Birmingham Mail.
Spence is currently a free agent after he was released by MK Dons following their relegation in the summer and has since been looking to find a new club. It had been thought that he was very close to signing for Rotherham united after he impressed during a trial period there over the last few weeks but now Birmingham have made a move to swoop for him and give him a chance to play for the Blues.
The West Midlands side were aiming to get Spence into the developmental match with Sheffield United today though that idea had to be scrapped when the match, which was set to take place at Stocksbridge Park Steels’ Look Local Stadium, was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. But even with that news, Birmingham want Spence to train with the club for a while to see if he would be a fit for their side.
Birmingham are looking for a right back after receiving bad news regarding their usual player at that position Jonathan Spector. He was sent off at the weekend and will now miss three games, meaning Spence would come in very handy right now especially as they aren’t allowed to sign anyone on loan following a change in the emergency loan rules at the start of the season.Spence’s versatility may come in handy later on in the season as he can also play at centre back.
