Burton: McFadzean issued warning by Clough

Burton Albion central defender Kyle McFadzean has been issued a warning by boss Nigel on his disciplinary record following a recent scuffle with Barnsley striker Sam Winnall that led to a four game suspension.

The 29 year old defender will have missed seven games of this season already through suspension once the ban has been completed and has been given a stark reminder by his manager to curb his temper.

He joined the club from relegated Milton Keynes Dons in the summer and is usually a starter in the centre of defence alongside Ben Turner when he is not suspended.

He has only picked up one yellow card so far this season but has been suspended due to violent outbursts including the clash with Winnall, where he stamped on the Barnsley striker while he was laying on the floor, in their 0-0 draw before the international break.

“There is no excuse,” Clough told BBC Radio Derby.

“At his age we are looking for him to start learning.”

Clough added: “In his general play there is not a problem. It is just these mad moments and lapses that he has to cut out if he wants to stay with us. He knows he has let everybody down again.”

McFadzean is no stranger to disciplinary issues with the former Sheffield United trainee picking up 14 bookings and one red last season while playing for the MK Dons.

In the two seasons before he picked up 13 and 12 bookings respectively while playing for the Dons and Crawley Town respectively.

Burton may hand Shaun Barker a first start since joining the club in the summer with the injury ravaged defender having not played a full 90 minutes for over four years.
