Leeds United braced for £5m bid for star defender

Leeds United are preparing to receive a £5m bid from West Bromwich Albion according to a report from the Mirror.

The Baggies thought they had someone who could play in the left back slot all season when they signed Brendan Galloway on loan from Everton but that deal has now been cut short and has forced their head coach tony Pulis to look at other options.

And that option appears to be Taylor, the talented young full back who has been attracting plenty of attention over the last year or two. West Brom have been interested before in the player and even had a £3m bid rejected for him in the summer and had planned to wait until the summer of 2017 to reignite their interest. However with Galloway heading back to Everton earlier than planned, they have been forced into action and look likely to test Leeds’ willpower in the upcoming January transfer window with a £5m bid.

What makes Leeds’ situation tricky is Taylor’s current contract status. His current deal is set to expire in the summer and there has currently been no forward progress on a new contract and while Leeds would get a fee for him in the summer due to his age, they may not want to rick getting a small tribunal sized fee which could end up happening. However with Taylor being one of their brightest young stars and the club having a sense of positivity around it after a brilliant start to the season, they also don’t want to risk damaging that by selling one of their most popular players.
