Former Fulham winger set to return to club

Fulham are set to make a move to sign their former player Kerim Frei according to a report from the Daily Star.

Frei, who is one of the few players who has been capped by two different countries at youth level having played for both Turkey and Switzerland, started his professional career in Fulham after being signed from Swiss side Grasshopper. Despite always being rated as a hot prospect for the future, he was never able to break into the first team on a regular basis and not even a loan to Cardiff City was able to help. Eventually he was sold in 2013 to Besiktas.

And with Fulham’s head coach Slavisa Jokanovic confirming that he wants to improve the squad in the upcoming January transfer window, he has now been linked with a move for Frei. The 22-year-old is currently out of favour at Besiktas having only made two appearances this season and they are willing to sell him in January. And with Fulham being in a very different position to what they were when the sold Frei, they are willing to bring him back to Craven Cottage and give him another shot at becoming a Fulham favourite.

The Cottagers have had a bright start to the season despite losing many of their star assets in the summer and they are currently 8th in the Sky Bet Championship. They are coming off the back of a 2-0 win over their West London rivals Brentford and will now hope to get another win in their upcoming match against Sheffield Wednesday.
