QPR: club considering approach for McInnis

Reports are circulating that managerless QPR are considering an approach for former Bristol City manager, Derek McInnis.

The Scottish Sun have reported that McInnis, who is currently in charge of Aberdeen, is said to be on the shortlist to replace Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

It is understood, however, that no approach has been made to the Don’s about the possibility of speaking to McInnis.

Ian Hollaway, currently a member of Sky Sports punditary team, is said to be lined up for an interview.

Other names that have been linked with the position, have included: Paul Clement, Tim Sherwood and Steve Cotterill.

It is now believed that McInnis has joined that list of names and the final decision will be made by a selection commitee. Led by former striker, Les Ferdinand.

McInnis, began his managerial career at St Johnston, where over a four year period – he guided the club to promotion in 2009.

Links with several Championship clubs followed before he was eventually approached by Bristol City, who at the time we’re struggling at the bottom of the league. McInnis, went on to lead them to an eight-game unbeaten run towards the end of the season which secured The Robin’s Championship status for another year.

He was eventually sacked by City with the club eight points adrift at the bottom of the table in January 2013. He was, however, not out of work for too long and was appointed the new man in The Don’s hotseat just two months later.

A position he has held since, winning more than half his games in charge of the club.

This would be more of a surprise appointment than a club favourite, like Holloway but it will be interesting to see what develops if the move happens.
