Birmingham City: Injury update

Birmingham manager, Gary Rowett, has offered an update on the fitness of Bournemouth loanee, Rhoys Wiggins.

Wiggins  was stretchered off in the closing stages of  last week’s derby against Aston Villa.

He has been the victim of severe swelling around his new and because of the extent of the injury, has had to put proceedings of a scan on hold.

With the former Charlton man only signed on until the January transfer window. There looks to be little or no hope of him featuring again for The Blues this season.

(From Birmingham’s official website) The Birmingham boss said:  “we don’t think it’s good, the initial prognosis and tests from the physios suggest that it’s something serious, but we’ll find out in the next couple of days.

Rhoys will be going back to Bournemouth for treatment, as most loan players would do.

With his loan up in January the likelihood is that he’ll probably end up going back to Bournemouth [permanently] and we wish him all the best,” said Rowett.

It’s a real shame because it was a really strong performance [against Villa].”

His Blues side face a trip to Huddersfield tomorrow.

Their opponents starting the league in spectacular style and were the early pace setters in the season’s early days. They have, however, dipped recently and have lost two of their last three games in the league. Including a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Fulham last weekend.

Birmingham themselves, begin the day just outside the play-off places following the draw against Aston Villa.
