Nottingham Forest must not get distracted by takeover talk

Nottingham Forest’s Chris Cohen has told the club website that the team can not get distracted by all the media talk about the club.

Recently all the talk about Forest has not been about the football but more about a potential takeover of the club. Former San Diego Padres owner John Jay Moores is rumoured to be close to completing a takeover, though current Fawaz Al Hasawi has insisted nothing has been done yet, and there has also been talk of head coach Philippe Montanier being replaced if a takeover goes ahead.

And with ere being a lot of talk about the future of the club, it could be easy for the team themselves to get distracted and not to put up a good performance in their upcoming match against Cardiff City. But Cohen knows that could be a potential issue as he addressed the press saying the team must concentrate on the match and not all the media rumours surrounding it.

He said: We know football is a results-driven business and we completely understand the fans’ frustration after an unacceptable first-half performance on Tuesday night. It is up to us now to respond to that.”

“Saying that off-field events are affecting us would be an excuse and anyone who says that is hiding the fact they’re not playing well enough. We’ve had halves of football where we’ve been good but that has to transfer into 90-minute performances now.”
“It’s still a tight league and we know that if we can put a few results together then we can climb the table pretty quickly and get back to where we want to be. Talk is cheap though and now we have to get out there and produce a performance.”
