Villa owner takes to Twitter following disappointing Bruce start

Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has taken to Twitter to ask fans for patience following their 1-1 draw against Wolves yesterday.

The result from the Saturday evening fixture, saw Villa move down to 20th in the table. Just one point clear of Wigan who currently hold the final relegation place.

Jonathan Kodija got The Villans off to the best possible starting and opening the scoring – from the penalty spot – after just 15 minutes. They were, however, pegged back shortly after the half-hour mark when Wolves were awarded a penalty of their own. Helder Costa the goalscorer.

That goal inspired a dominant second-half display from Wanderers, who wasted a number of key opportunities to take all three points from Villa park.

The performance, which was largely second best throughout, has already shortened the early optimism in the eyes of some.

Bruce, himself, when questioned after the match – admitted that there is a lot to do to turn around the continuous sinking ship.

“There’s a lot to be done and we can only get better,” said Bruce. (from BBC Sport.)

“This is a wonderful football club with wonderful support. They’re not used to seeing their team play at this level and there’s a lot of expectation – and it’s my job to try to put smiles on faces.”

Their next fixture sees them travel to Berkshire, to face Reading. Handing Bruce just the one training session to pick the players up.

Here are the tweets from the club’s chairman, addressing concerned supporters on our favourite social media site, Twitter.
