Bookmaker suspends betting over ex-manager returning to Coventry

The Coventry Telegraph understands that one bookmaker has suspended betting on the next Coventry City manager. Ladbrokes suspended the market with former manager Steven Pressley the favourite. This has led to many speculating that Pressley could be in line for a sensational return to the Ricoh Arena.

Technical Director Mark Venus remains in temporary charge following the departure of Tony Mowbray. Venus is the favourite to take over full time with a number of other betting websites, especially in the wake up two wins in two matches since he took over the reins.

Following their win over Northampton Town in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night, Venus revealed that the club have already received several applications to be the successor to Mowbray,

“We’ve had a lot of applications. A lot of people want to manage this club and so they should – it’s a big football club.

“We have to take out time, pick the right candidate, distinguish who’s the right man to move the club forward from here. There’s no time schedule – however long it takes, getting the right person in place is the most important thing.”

With BetVictor, with Venus as the favourite, the likes of Steve Cotterill, Pressley, Steve Evans and Sean O’Driscoll are the names high on the list to be the next permanent Coventry City manager. Pressley was sacked in February last year and has since managed Fleetwood Town, before he resigned a few weeks before this season started.
