Garry Monk talks about Leeds United’s playing style

Garry Monk has had a short managerial career, but during his time at Swansea, he was notorious for playing exciting, attacking football.

And the Leeds United manager insists that is something he wants to bring to Elland Road in the near future.

Leeds United started the season poorly, but have won five out of their last six games, which has seen them rise to 11th in the Championship table.

Their good form over the recent month has been largely built on solid foundations at the back, with Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley forming a formidable partnership in the centre of Leeds United’s defence.

Monk acknowledges the importance of picking up the results to keep him in the job, so that he gets the time to bring his own brand of football to Leeds.

The Leeds United boss said: “I’m currently working in two ways. Short term is getting the results which enables me to plan for the long term.

“The long term is all about the attacking style of football that I want to play.”

Leeds were very vulnerable defensively at the start of the season, but now that they’ve been tightened up, Monk feels like his side are more than capable of improving the attacking side of their game.
