Twitter: Leeds players react post Barnsley.

Several Leeds player’s expressed their delight at yesterday’s victory over Barnsley. The 2-1 result was their fifth league win in six league outings.

This was the first game that either team had played since the sacking of Barnsley assistant manager, Tommy Wright, following his role in the bribery allegations surrounding football. Allegations that also involve Leeds owner, Massimo Cellino. 

Yesterday’s encounter began fairly evenly and the watching crowd had to wait 36 minutes for he games opening goal. Kyle Bartley met a well-taken corner from Pablo Hernandez to fire in from close range.

The provider turned waster for the next big opportunity of the game, firing wide from inside the 18-yard-box

Hernandez, himself, doubled the advantage after 56 minutes. Beating the uncertain Barnsley offside trap and deceiving Davies before curling the ball beyond him.

Barnsley replied in the 70th minute, through an own goal from Leeds defender, Charlie Taylor, setting up a nervous last 20 minutes for the hosts.

Leeds rode their luck towards the end and a fine save from well-travelled keeper, Rob Green was enough to prevent a volley from Conor Hourihane. Pontus Jansoon also saved his team in the dying stages, blocking Josh Scowens well-directed shot off the line.

Leeds were visibly delighted with the result and both players and management reacted to the victory that saw them climb to eleventh, one place behind opponents Barnsley in the league table.
