Eight EFL youngsters receive England call ups

Eight of the SkyBet Championship’s most promising young stars have received international call ups to the England Under 21s squad.

The Three Lions travel to Kazakhstan on Thursday 6 October before facing Bosnia and Herzegovina at The Bescot Stadium in Walsall on Tuesday 11 October.

The Football Association promoted Aidy Boothroyd to the role of England Under 21s manager this week and the new boss has called up a number of SkyBet Championship players to his squad.

Goalkeepers Jonathan Mitchell (Derby County) and Freddie Woodman (Newcastle United) have both received call ups with Mitchell representing his country at Under 21s level for the very first time.

Seven times capped Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dominic Iorfa has again been included while Isaac Hayden (Newcastle United), Will Hughes (Derby County) and John Swift (Reading) are the representatives from the SkyBet Championship competing for places in midfield.

In attack, 10-goal Bristol City striker Tammy Abraham earns his first call up after impressing at Ashton Gate since joining The Robins on a season long loan from Chelsea whilst the recent late-night party antics of Aston Villa attacker Jack Grealish have not damaged his international hopes with the youngster also being named in the squad.

The home fixture against Bosnia and Herzegovina kicks off at the controversial time of 3pm with admission priced at just £1.
