Rotherham United: Stubbs reacts to Huddersfield defeat

Following his sides 2-1 defeat at the hands of top of the table Huddersfield last night, Rotherham boss, Alan Stubbs, was full of praise for his side in his after-match interview with the club’s official website.

Rotherham, who currently side bottom, are without a win in their last six games.

They started on the back foot here too, falling behind after only two minutes. Elias Kachunga scoring from close range after the Rotherham back line had failed to clear following sustained pressure from The Terriers forward line.

Danny Ward equalised for the strugglers after 34 minutes, before Nahki Wells scored with what was, in the end, the decisive goal – four minutes later.

Stubbs said he felt his side could have taken something from the game,

“We have come here, and after a really poor start, we grew into the game and got ourselves back into it. We have some good opportunities to take something from the game.

“You can see that Huddersfield are a team that are playing with a lot of confidence, they have some very good players and you can see why they are top of the league.”

Huddersfield boss, David Wagner also praised his sides work rate during his after match thoughts with The Examiner.

“Perhaps we were a little bit sloppy in front of goal, but I thought we were strong, and with our workrate and fighting attitude, we deserved this win.”

The highlights from the game are shown below, as Huddersfield went top of the table.
