Barnsley

Barnsley v Aston Villa – Preview

7th meets 18th at Oakwell on Tuesday (27th September) with the latter looking for their first away win of the season.

Team news:
Barnsley:

The Tykes remain without full-back, Aidy White, who was replaced by Cole Kpekawa at the weekend. Kpekawa is expected to continue in White’s absence.

Manager, Paul Heckingbottom, will also be without on-loan Celtic winger, Saidy Janko, who was also missing from the weekends 2-0 defeat to high-flying, Brighton. The 21-year-old swiss born player is suffering from a torn thigh and ‘will be out for weeks’ – his manager has confirmed to the BBC.

Better news for Barnsley is that James Bree may be available for selection again, following his recent recovery from a hamstring problem.

Aston Villa:

Aston Villa may welcome the return of Ross McCormack, who missed the weekend’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle after picking up a knock, has created the most goalscoring opportunities in the Championship this season; with 27.

Jack Grealish may also be called upon after his recent off the field antics saw him suspended for the visit of The Toon Army.

The form Guides:

Barnsley go into this fixture having lost both of their last two games in the league. The last time they lost three in a row was back in November when they were struggling towards the bottom end of League One.

One of the early season surprises find themselves in seventh position, having won five of their first nine games.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, have only won one of their first nine and are without a win in their last seven games; during their last four.

Prediction:

Barnsley 2-2 Aston Villa.
