Price set for Pontus Jansson

According to the Swedish publication SkaneSport, Leeds United will have to pay £3.6 million to sign Pontus Jansson on a permanent deal.

The Swedish international defender is currently on loan at Leeds from Italian side Torino, but has confirmed the deal will become permanent if he plays 20 games for the club.

Jansson has become a big hit during his time at Leeds, and is quickly establishing himself as a huge fan favourite.

Speaking to the Swedish media, the central defender expressed his excitement to get the deal done on a permanent basis.

“It’s the only thing I want,” Jansson said.

“There are so many matches we play in the league and the cups I can get there by the New Year.”

He made his league debut against Huddersfield, and is now a key starting figure in Garry Monk’s side, and has been crucial in helping Leeds win their last four matches in all competitions.

£3.6million won’t seem a lot of money to Leeds United fans after his recent performances, but they will be hoping he doesn’t become another flop.

There are 37 league games remaining, so Jansson is expected to reach the required 20 pretty quickly.

5% of his transfer fee would go to former club Malmo, whilst Torino would receive the rest.
