Blackburn: Defender signing imminent

The chronicle live has revealed that former Sunderland and Manchester United defender, Wes Brown, is close to signing for Blackburn Rovers.

Brown, 36, without a club since he was released by Sunderland in the summer, suffered a terrible 2015 on a personal level as a combination of injuries and poor form restricted him to just five appearances in his last season on Wearside.

Brown first signed for United as a 16-year-old in 1996, but had to wait two years before he could properly began his professional career when he was brought on as a second half substitute against Leeds United towards the end of the 1997/98 season.  He was also part of the famous Manchester United squad that won the treble in 1998/99.

His big breakthrough year, however, came the following season and he was part of the famous Manchester United squad that won the treble in 1998/99.

Having made 232 appearances in a fifteen-year-period for the Red Devils, he made the move to Sunderland in 2011; following former team-mate John O’Shea to the stadium of light.

His rather unfortunate injury record meant that he was restricted to only 83 starts during his five year period with the Black Cats.

The news should come as a huge boost to horribly out of form Rovers, who are currently sitting bottom of the table and are badly lacking in the centre-back position, having lost both Shane Duffy and Grant Hanley  in the last transfer window, to Newcastle and Brighton respectively.
