Twitter reacts to Alan Shearer statue

Earlier today, the72 reported that Alan Shearer had unveiled a statue of himself outside St James’ Park.

The statue has received a lot of attention from fans on Twitter, so let’s take a lot at what is being said:

Alan Shearer described himself as “honoured” to have the statue of him outside the ground, and thanked all of the fans for their support over the years.

Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez tweeted a picture of the statue and described being at the same club that Shearer was as “an honour”.

To Newcastle fans, Shearer is a club legend, there’s no two ways about it.
