Nottingham Forest linked with ex-Milan & Chelsea free agent duo

Tutto Mercato Web understands that Nottingham Forest could make a move for former Chelsea and AC Milan duo goalkeeper Marco Amelia and centre back Alex. Earlier this week, the Sky Bet Championship side made a high-profile free agent signing when handing Nicklas Bendtner a two-year contract at the City Ground.

34 year-old defender Alex is certainly the biggest name of the available duo. He has won league titles with Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and PSV Eindhoven, as well as a Copa America success with the Brazilian national team. He was released by Milan at the end of last season after making 25 appearances last season.

Amelia, who is also aged 34, was on the books of Chelsea last season but failed to play for the Blues. He hasn’t actually played a competitive game since 2014, when playing for Milan. He has won Serie A titles with both Milan and Roma, whilst he was part of the 2006 World Cup winning Italian squad.

Philippe Montanier has already assembled a very large squad since being handed the managerial reins over the summer. In the centre back role for example, he already has Michael Mancienne, Matt Mills, Jack Hobbs, Damien Perquis, Thomas Lam and Joe Worrall. As for the goalkeeping department, Vladimir Stojkovic recently signed to provide cover to Stephen Henderson after the departure of Dorus de Vries to Celtic. Jordan Smith is also on the books at the club.

It is fair to say Alex does possess a very powerful strike. The video below will give you a little reminder of just how powerful he can strike a ball!

For anyone not to familiar with Amelia, then this little video will also give you a little helping hand regarding what he could potentially offer, if signed.
