Marlon Pack signs new Bristol City contract

Marlon Pack has signed a new two-year contract with Bristol City as confirmed by the club website.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been a key player for the Robins since he signed for them after a successful trial in 2013 and now the club are pressing to make a push for promotion this season they are aiming to get their key players signed up to longer deals. And Pack is now one of those players after he penned a two-year deal with the option of another.

Pack came through the Portsmouth academy but only made one appearance for them. He instead gained his first team experience on loan at clubs such as Wycombe Wanderers, Dagenham and Redbridge and Cheltenham Town. He impressed enough in that loan with Cheltenham to get a permanent deal there in 2011 and became a star player for them during his two years at the club as they went on to reach the Sky Bet League Two Play Off final. In 2013 he left Cheltenham however and made the switch to sign for Bristol City.

After the contract was signed, Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson said: “Marlon has been really important for us and certainly since I’ve arrived, he’s been getting better all the time.”

“I obviously watched Bristol City from afar with him in the team, but now having worked with him first-hand, I know he’s a top footballer with a great football brain.”

“We’ve worked very hard on keeping him central and, like a lot of this group, I’m sure he’ll only get better. He’s coming into his prime now and his new contract is great for us, and makes this window even better.”
