Queens Park Rangers- the ins, outs and rumours

Jimmy Floyd Hassebaink’s first summer transfer deadline day at the SkyBet Championship club was a relatively busy one, with more outs than ins.

Montserratian midfielder Brandon Comley joined Grimsby Town on loan until January, with young centre-back Cole Kpekawa leaving permanently for Barnsley. Both players have only made a collective five appearances for the Rs, with Kpekawa making four of those. Midfielder Daniel Toszer also had his contract terminated on Deadline Day.

Comley joins the list of QPR players loaned out, with Darnell Furlong, Michael Doughty (both Swindon Town), Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (Gillingham) and Reece Grego-Cox (Newport County) also hoping to impress whilst at their respective loan clubs.

In terms of incoming transfers on and around Deadline Day, both signings are unknown quantities. The first of which is a Guinean striker from Anderlecht in Belgium, Idrissa Sylla. Hasslebaink expressed his delight at securing his services, stating that he should provide the likes of Connor Washington and Sebastian Polter with stiff competition up front.

The second signing made on Deadline Day was that of Pawel Wszolek on loan from Italian Serie B side Hellas Verona. Hasslebaink stated that the Polish international should add some versatility to the squad. Employed mainly as a winger, Wszolek has won 8 Caps for Poland, and makes his first foray into English football in West London. At the age of just 24, he could have a lot of potential to fill whilst on loan at the Rs. All will depend on how quickly he can adapt.

Having already made a strong start to the season, will the new acquisitions provide that extra something to get the Rs back to the promised land?
