Nottingham Forest: one to Watch – Tyler Walker

The son of former Nottingham Forest and England defender Des Walker, Tyler is out to make a name for himself on his own terms. Unlike his father, the nineteen-year old plays as a striker.

Having gone through the Forest youth academy, he now looks to push for a place in their squad, having signed a new four-year deal only last June.

In come Sky Bet League Two Stevenage, where Tyler now plies his trade on loan for the season from Forest. Tyler describes himself as a striker who enjoys working the space behind defences and above all scoring goals. With that in mind, a brace in Stevenage’s 6-1 demolition of Hartlepool United was certainly no bad way to start.

The first goal was an unexpected piece of innovation from the nineteen-year old. From a corner, the ball eventually found its way to Walker with his back to goal. His spectacular overhead kick turned the game on its head just before half-time. It put Stevenage 2-1 up on the stroke of half-time.

His second was the result of a swift Stevenage move. Although less acrobatic, Walker’s first-time shot from Andrew Fox’s pass hit the bottom corner, putting Stevenage into an unassailable 4-1 lead. Walker was denied a hat-trick, having been subbed off, but it was the perfect début for the youngster.

Will he break through at Forest in the near-future? Having already scored in the Championship 2-2 draw with Brentford back in March 2015, you’d have to think he has a chance. An impressive début for Stevenage will have done no harm either.
