QPR fail in attempts to sign Newcastle United striker and PSG winger

QPR failed in an attempt to sign Newcastle United’s Adam Armstrong and PSG’s Roli Pereira according to a report from West London Sport.

The R’s were hoping to land some big signings before the end of the transfer window yesterday and while they were able to get some players in with Pawel Wszolek joining on loan from Hellas Verona, it could have been a lot more.

The first target they tried to bring into Loftus Road was Armstrong. The 19-year-old striker was one of the most wanted players this summer after having a fantastic year with Coventry City last season with it once being stated that over 20 clubs were looking into signing him. And QPR was one of those teams as they made a late attempt to sign the youngster. However the Magpies were unwilling to let Armstrong move to a team that could be fighting against them for promotion this season, and so they let him go to Barnsley instead, who are expected to be battling against relegation this year.

However QPR may be more disappointed that they weren’t able to land Pereira as it was believed up until a few hours before the deadline that they were going to sign him. The 19-year-old hasn’t made an appearance for PSG yet but has been a regular for their reserve side and QPR were hoping to lure him to West London. However they couldn’t agree on a deal for the player and so he will not be turning out in the blue and white hoops of QPR.
