Norwich forward could return to play for old manager at Sunderland

Norwich City’s Steven Naismith could return to play for his former manager David Moyes at Sunderland according to a report from the Sunderland Echo.

The 29-year-old had only signed for the Canaries from Everton in January and went on to score two goals in 15 appearances, though that wasn’t enough to keep Norwich in the Premier League and they were relegated to the Sky Bet Championship at the end of the season.

And with Norwich now in the Championship, that means that Naismith could be on his way out of the Carrow Road. And now there is interest after a report suggested that Sunderland are interested in signing him. Their head coach David Moyes was the man who signed him for Everton back in 2012 and is a big fan of the player. Now he’s hoping to sign him for the second time now that he is at Sunderland and needs to add more creativity to the team so that their man striker Jermain Defoe gets even more chances to convert.

Naismith started his career in the Rangers academy but soon moved on to the Kilmarnock academy. He impressed enough there to get a return to Rangers where he would go on to make 98 appearances and score 18 goals. However he left the club as the original Rangers were liquidated and he refused to move his contract over the phoenix team and joined Moyes at Everton. He would stay there for three and a half years before he was signed by Norwich, but in his half a year there he couldn’t stop them from being relegated.
