Nottingham Forest conclude permanent deal of experienced winger

Nottingham Forest have today secured the signing of Middlesborough winger Mustapha Carayol – the clubs official website has confirmed.

Carayol, who is 27-years of age, arrives in the East Midlands on a two-year deal – and could be seen as a replacement for starlet Oliver Burke; who departed the City Ground recently opting for a move to the Bundusliga to join RB Leipzig.

Carayol has a decent amount of prior experience in the Sky Bet Championship – the Gambian international has made 82 appearances in the league during spells with Leeds and Huddersfield during the last campaign, and Middlesborough and Brighton the year before.

All in all Carayol has 15 goals and 7 Sky Bet Championship appearances to his name, which is an impressive record – and one which will improve the moods of Forest fans.

Carayol is joining a side that have made a decent start to the new campaign, Philippe Montanier’s side currently sit in seventh place in the Championship – only out of the playoff places on goal difference.

The 5′ 10″ new Forest recruit didn’t appear for Boro since recovering from a serious knee injury, sustained 18 months ago.

It will probably be a relief for Carayol or ‘Muzzy’ as he’s known as to finally permanently move on to pastures new, and away from the club where he was obviously surplus to requirements at.

His debut for his new club can’t come until next weekend due to the international break; however he could make his debut at Villa Park next Sunday, a game which has been chosen to be shown live on Sky Sports.
